• October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - The entire month is a reminder that there is a gruesome disease that effects 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1000 men in the United States. We are reminding people to be proactive about fighting this invasive disease and not to forget to support those who are suffering from breast cancer.

• October is National Fire prevention Month – That means it's time for us all to take the precautionary steps to prevent dangerous and life-threatening fires. These are the months when we turn on the heat to keep our homes warm. While we need to keep our homes warm, there are steps we should take to prevent a fire. One Tip: Make sure smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are working. Place a fire detector every level of the home and test them monthly. Replace batteries annually.

• Who can forget about one of the most creative traditions of the year, Halloween. On October 31, Halloween brings out the ghouls and goblins, creatures, and strange folk. They come creeping about the neighborhood seeking favors over trickery. Be extra careful driving through neighborhoods while watching out for trick or treaters.

• I was born and raised in Torrance, California.

• I graduated from Torrance High School.

• I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Cal State Northridge.

• I have been happily married to my sweetheart, Gayle, for over 44 years.

• Our family is blessed with 6 children, their spouses,9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

• During my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with my family.

• I have served as the Director and Past Chair of the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce, now known as the West Ventura County Business Alliance.

• I have also been a Director and Past Chair of Goodwill Industries for Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties.

• Member of Peace Lutheran Church in Camarillo.

• I have been actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America as a previous Scoutmaster and Cubmaster.

• I have also managed and coached youth sports teams.
